Building a cross-chain bridge between the Dogecoin and Ethereum blockchains will add practical value to the meme cryptocurrency. This view was voiced by its co-founder Billy Markus.
The bridge will extend DOGE use cases in the Web 3.0 space, he says.
“This will open the possibility for places like OpenSea to accept Dogecoin for purchases in a bundled version. Basically, the bridge would unlock the technology, allowing DOGE to be converted from and to a rolled-up token,” Markus wrote.
It will unlock the ability for sites like opensea to accept Dogecoin for purchase using the wrapped dogecoin token – basically a bridge will allow a transfer from doge to a wrapped doge token and back to unlock the technology.
According to him, specially created sites will be able to see the coins wrapped in the MetaMask wallet and offer new features and opportunities to their owners.
Markus stated that increasing the number of companies accepting the cryptocurrency and using it for donations will also benefit Dogecoin.
Recall that in April, Vlad Tenev, founder and CEO of online broker Robinhood, sought the conditions for DOGE’s transformation into “the future currency of the Internet and people”.
