The Sandbox metaverse project has purchased an unexchangeable token from the Moonbirds NFT collection for 350 ETH (over $1M at the time of writing).

The vendor has listed Moonbird #2642 on the OpenSea market under the alias oscuranft. He bought this NFT for 100 ETH on April 17.

Moonbirds is a collection of 10,000 owl avatars launched by Proof on April 16. The latter was founded by Kevin Rose, a partner of True Ventures.

According to The Block Research, in about a week, cumulative sales of NFT Moonbirds reached almost $360 million. Analyst Thomas Bialek attributed this to Rose’s support, the success of the previous Proof Collective project, and the behavior of collectors starting to pick the non-existent. -fungible tokens “have a successful track record.”
