Meta Corporation will open its first Meta Store retail store to introduce consumers to virtual reality and the meta-universe.

The store will showcase the company’s VR headsets, Ray-Ban Stories glasses, and Portal devices. Visitors will have access to interactive displays played on a huge wall-to-wall LED screen.

The company believes that physical retail stores will not only help sell more equipment, but also introduce consumers to virtual and augmented reality technologies.

“Having a store here in Burlingame gives us more room to experiment and keep the customer experience at the center of our improvement. “What we learn here will guide our future retail strategy,” said Martin Gilliard, CEO of Meta Store.

The store is located near San Francisco, California, next to the headquarters of the Reality Labs division. The opening will be held on May 9, 2022.

Recall, in April, Meta announced that almost 50% commission was established on metaverse sales.

That same month, former company employee Frances Haugen warned of the threat to privacy in the metaverse.
