Bitcoin.com founder Roger Ver, nicknamed “Bitcoin Jesus” for introducing the first cryptocurrency in the early years, praised the virtues of Dogecoin in an interview with Bloomberg.
On April 26, he broke his one-year silence on Twitter, where he has more than 742,000 followers. This coincided with reports of the social network being acquired by Elon Musk, who is an ardent fan of the meme cryptocurrency.
“This will definitely make Twitter more compelling. I’m really grateful for Musk’s call to step away from censorship there.”
It supported the Bitcoin hard fork in 2017, and then Bitcoin Cash appeared. Since then, Ver has strongly supported this fork, believing that it reflects Satoshi Nakamoto’s initial vision, which in his view of digital gold deviated.
Now the entrepreneur has spoken out in favor of Musk’s favorite cryptocurrency:
“Dogecoin is much better. It is cheaper and more reliable. If I had to choose three candidates [на доминирующую роль]It would be Dogecoin, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.”
At the same time, Ver stated that he was never a Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash maximalist. He noted that it has a diversified portfolio of currencies that includes Ethereum, Monero, and XRP from Ripple.
Since the hard fork, bitcoin’s capitalization has nearly tripled, standing at about $760 billion versus about $5.8 billion for Bitcoin Cash. According to CoinGecko, at the time of writing, the latter is trading just above the $300 level – more than 90% below the high recorded in 2017.
Recall that in 2020 Craig Wright, another well-known supporter of Bitcoin Cash, filed a defamation lawsuit against Vera. The self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto became one of a series of statements made to the court against representatives of the crypto community.
Craig followed Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Blockstream CEO Adam Back, and What Bitcoin Did podcast host Peter McCormack, among others.
