In March 2022, analysts surveyed 5,502 institutional and 23,113 individual investors from 23 countries in all regions of the world.
“Cryptocurrency is a long game. We need to prepare for the next 50-100 million customers. The industry should create the infrastructure to support this new wave of investors.”Bitstamp USA CEO Robert Zagotta said in an interview with Blockworks.
In both categories, around 70% of respondents trust digital assets. The rate is higher among those who have the most knowledge about the subject. Regionally, there are more in developing countries such as Nigeria, Argentina, Brazil, and South Africa.
In terms of confidence, cryptocurrencies outperformed derivatives and only slightly outperformed stocks, bonds and real estate.
68% of institutions recommend that clients diversify their portfolios with a new asset class, while 15.2% do so with certain restrictions.
72% of institutional investors and 73.1% of individual investors plan to increase their investments in this segment in the next five years.
The barriers included participants in the first category, excessive volatility and insufficient regulation, in the second category – lack of necessary information, high risks and uncertainty regarding the choice of a reliable trading platform.
Recall that 68% of US crypto investors took their first steps in the industry in 2021, according to Huobi Group analysts.
