The project team will assist FIFA in developing an NFT-focused digital asset strategy and provide a tournament wallet solution.
Algorand will also be the official sponsor of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand.
Gianni Infantino, head of the sports organisation, said the partnership with Algorand is in line with FIFA’s commitment to continually seek “innovative channels for sustainable revenue growth.”
According to CoinGecko, Algorand has reacted to the news with an increase of almost 20% in the last 24 hours. The asset ranks 31st in the cryptocurrencies rating based on capitalization.
Recall that in March 2022, Crypto.com became the official sponsor of the World Cup.
In December 2021, Borderless Capital launched a $500 million fund to support Algorand ecosystem projects.
