Banco Galicia, one of the largest banks in Argentina, has opened access to cryptocurrencies for customers. Users can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and USDC stablecoins on its platform.
The initiative in the organization was explained, among other things, by the demand from customers. The bank does not offer custody services – infrastructure provider Lirium is responsible for the storage of digital assets.
Brubank, another Argentine bank, also announced the launch of a cryptocurrency service. Its users gained access to Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC and DAI. The company noted that the feature will be rolled out “gradually” for all customers.
Recall that the International Monetary Fund added to the Argentine debt refinancing project a clause that prohibits the circulation of cryptocurrencies in the country.
