According to BNN Bloomberg, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, the number of people using cryptocurrencies will increase from approximately 200 million to 1 billion in ten years.
During the Milken Institute Global Conference, he said:
“My estimation is that in 10-20 years we will see a significant portion of GDP materialize in the crypto economy.”
Cathy Wood, Head of ARK Investment Management, who attended the session, shared her views. He also noted the rapid development of the DeFi industry, which is attracting more and more experts.
“When it comes to DeFi and the next generation internet, we see many financial companies losing their talents in the crypto industry. So they have to take it seriously or they will be devastated,” Wood said.
According to him, the promotion of cryptocurrencies in the US is hampered by regulatory uncertainty. He said that the implementation of the regulatory framework for the industry has been much slower than in the case of the Internet.
At the same time, Armstrong observed that “it’s getting harder and harder to meet a genuine crypto skeptic in Washington.” According to him, about half of politicians now support digital assets.
Recall that Armstrong envisioned the division of cryptocurrencies regulation in the United States between departments.
