The draft law on the regulation of cryptocurrencies under development by the National Bank of Georgia is in discussion with market participants. This was stated by the vice president of regulator Papuna Lezhava, writes Sputnik Georgia.
He added that the final version of the document is scheduled to be made public in the summer or fall.
Lezhava emphasized that the bill aims to regulate crypto-asset trading, cryptocurrency platforms and protect consumer rights. The document does not cover mining.
Earlier, the head of the Central Bank, Koba Gvenetadze, said that the bill includes the procedure for registering and licensing bitcoin market participants, checking compliance and monitoring compliance with AML procedures.
