Blackview has introduced the BV8900, a secure smartphone that offers a giant battery, thermal imaging camera and more.

The innovation is based on the MediaTek Helio P90 SoC, which can not be called new or productive. However, the smartphone has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of flash memory with microSD slot. Interestingly, the company cites the amount of RAM equal to 16GB in many places in its press release, and then explains that 8GB of it is a virtual expansion. It looks like this is becoming a new trend.

An unexpected feature of the smartphone considering its platform is its screen. It has 6.5 inches diagonal and 2.4K resolution. There is no exact value, but it is unusual for this class of smartphones. There is one but, however. On the manufacturer’s page on Aliexpress, the resolution is indicated as 2400×1080 pixels, so perhaps 2.4K is such an original way of denoting vertical resolution that it can hardly be called a good idea.

However, there is no question about battery capacity. It has a substantial 10,380 mAh and a 33-watt charger. The main camera has a resolution of 64 MP and is based on the Samsung ISOCELL GW3 sensor. Also, this camera has optical stabilization. There’s also a thermal imaging camera with four times the zoom.

On the other hand, we can note UWB, Android 12, USB 3.0, loud stereo speaker support and, of course, protection against water and dust (IP69K) and physical influences (MIL-STD-810H).
