Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to launch the highly anticipated Xiaomi 14 series smartphones in China. Industry reports indicate that these devices, which are expected to be released in November, will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which will be released in October this year. Specifically, the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are said to feature periscopic zoom cameras along with the previously announced Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Periscopic zoom features provide users with advanced optical zoom capabilities, allowing them to precisely capture distant objects.
According to the famous Digital Chat Station, the periscope telephoto camera of the Xiaomi 14 Pro will have 5x optical zoom with an impressive focal length of 115mm. Meanwhile, its sibling Xiaomi 14 will have a periscope telephoto camera with 3.9x optical zoom and 90mm shorter focal length. The leaker did not share any other information about the cameras in the Xiaomi 14 series.
Earlier reports had claimed that like the Xiaomi 13 Pro, its successor will have three 50-megapixel cameras on the back. It is said to include a 50-megapixel main sensor, ultra-wide lens and zoom camera. There is no information about the camera setup of the Xiaomi 14. According to the news, the front camera of Xiaomi 14 Pro will support 4K video recording, promising high-quality selfies and video calls.
Xiaomi 14 Pro display variants are also among the rumors suggesting the possibility of both flat and curved edge display variants. Powering these variants will be rather large batteries, with both models expected to have a capacity of 5,000 mAh. Additionally, the Xiaomi 14 supports up to 90W charging, while the Pro variant potentially offers higher charging speeds, up to 120W, charging capabilities will vary between models.
The model numbers of both devices became known, with the Xiaomi 14 being named 23127PN0CC (China) and 23127PN0CG (Global). On the other hand, model numbers 23116PN5BC and 23116PN5BG belong to Xiaomi 14 Pro. Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be released next year. The final flagship could launch in China in the first quarter of 2024.
