If you’ve been following tech Twitter, you’ve probably seen memes mocking the iPhone 14 and Galaxy S23 Ultra because they look almost identical to their previous-gen models. A meme shows a man wearing the same shirt in his hand. Well, Nothing’s Phone 2 is now the target of these memes as well, but the company’s CEO doesn’t seem to agree. He hinted that the smartphone will look different from its predecessor.
After Twitter users mocked the upcoming Nothing Phone 2 for being similar to the Phone 1, CEO Carl Pei responded with a tweet implying a departure from design. “To all who sent me this: wait and see!” said. This contrasts with the recently released renders, which don’t show any major changes to the Phone 1’s design.
It is currently unclear what new changes Nothing could bring to the upcoming smartphone. Considering that the company has already announced a similar design for the Phone 2, some changes have been made only to the alignment of the glyph interface on the back, don’t expect anything too drastic. When the Phone 2 is officially announced in July, we’ll have to wait and see what Nothing has to offer.
Nothing with the Phone 1 lived up to its promises, so expectations are high for the second iteration. After all, the Carl Pei-led startup aims to revolutionize the “boring” smartphone market. To give you an idea, the Phone 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and a 4700mAh battery. There may also be improvements in the screen and camera sections.
