Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the Snapdragon 2023 Technology Summit this October. Rumors have it that the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones will launch as early as November this year. The Xiaomi 14 series will be one of the first phones to feature it. A new leak courtesy of Chinese whistleblower Digital Chat Station has revealed that Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi will also launch a phone powered by the SD8G3 chip.
We will remind you that Redmi introduced the Redmi K60 series in December 2022. Redmi K60e has announced the Redmi K60 and Redmi K60 Pro. These smartphones are powered by Dimensity 8200, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets, respectively.
The Redmi K70 series is also likely to include several smartphones. According to the source, there will be a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phone in the series, so the Redmi K70, which will be the successor of the K60 Pro, is likely to be powered by the said chipset.
The K60 Pro remained exclusive to the Chinese market. As such, it is unclear whether the K70 Pro will be released in markets outside of China. For now, there is no information about the features of the Redmi K70 series.
Reports have revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will include 1 Cortex X4 core running at 3.75 GHz, 5 Cortex-A720 cores running at 3.0 GHz, and 2 Cortex-A520 cores running at 2.0 GHz. The unannounced chip was spotted on benchmarking platforms Geekbench and AnTuTu with impressive scores. In Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests, the SD8G3 scored 2,563 and 7,256, respectively. The chip, on the other hand, scored 1,771,106 on AnTuTu.
