The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has set this figure to be 40 years since the 1970s, when Danish engineers first began experimental developments that underpin today’s global wind power industry. Since then, the industry has grown exponentially, leading GWEC to predict that the path from 1TW to 2TW will be much faster.
