The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is the first smartphone with a retractable portrait lens. Announced by Tecno in January of this year, the Phantom X2 Pro passed the JerryRigEverything endurance test. But the results of the rigorous stress tests of the premium Tecno smartphone are not encouraging.

JerryRigEverything has become the gold standard for determining the durability of any smartphone. This helps cut the hype around the device and provides a foundation. The result of the Phantom X2 Pro endurance tests may indicate that the supposedly revolutionary design of the smartphone may be a hoax. JerryRigEverything host Zach Nelson stated that portrait photography on a smartphone requires an additional camera with a depth sensor. This is also stated in the phone interface. It was also observed that the motor that moves the retractable lens is braked easily with a human finger.

Made from 48% recycled ocean plastic, the back panel of the Phantom X2 Pro was found to easily absorb sticky materials. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, the smartphone X2 Pro comes with a Gorilla Glass Victus display and a metal middle frame. This allowed the Phantom X2 Pro to pass scratch, bend and burn tests unscathed.

JerryRigEverything’s complete disassembly of the X2 Pro is currently pending. The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro costs $549 and has a 50 MP primary camera.
