Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S23 series is receiving a major camera update in various markets, and the latest region where the firmware was received is Europe. Update with firmware version S91xBXXU2AWF1First rolled out in select countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines last week, it’s now rolling out to Galaxy S23 users in Europe.

What’s new in this update?

Weighing in at around 2.2GB, this update mainly focuses on improving camera capabilities and overall user experience. Some notable improvements include a 2x zoom option for portrait mode, fixes for autofocus issue, improved night mode handling, smoother transition animations in One UI, and subtle improvements to haptic feedback.

Additionally, the update will fix HDR issues seen under certain lighting conditions when using the Camera app on the Galaxy S23. Additionally, the update seems to fix “banana blur” issues that cause blurry spots around the camera’s focal point.

Interestingly, reports suggest that Samsung is simultaneously working on another firmware release specifically for China and South Korea, which is expected to offer further optimizations. However, it is not known whether this new update will be released in Europe or other regions.

Regardless of user location, Galaxy S23, S23+, or S23 Ultra owners can check for the AWF1 update by going to their device’s Settings app, selecting Software Update, and tapping Download and Install.
