Many prefer Redmi phones for their affordability, but unfortunately, they often have mediocre cameras. Recently, some POCO and Redmi phones have added optical image stabilization (OIS) to their main cameras, but having OIS alone does not guarantee a strong camera setup.

Redmi phones rarely have a telephoto camera. The Pro variants of the Redmi K20 and K30 series offer a telephoto camera, but Xiaomi has decided not to use a telephoto camera in the Redmi K series. Everyone knows that the flagship phones have strong camera setups and users prefer to use a better main camera and camera. telephoto cameras that allow zooming distances on a large scale or perhaps shooting high-quality videos, but almost none of these are offered on Redmi phones.

Redmi phones typically lacked the camera features of flagship devices and instead used additional cameras such as depth sensors or macro cameras instead of a telephoto camera. Xiaomi’s macro cameras on some phones work relatively well. However, compared to flagship devices, the performance of the secondary cameras on most Redmi phones remains poor.

It’s worth noting that flagship phones generally achieve better image quality by using their auto-focus ultra-wide-angle cameras, rather than dedicated macro cameras, which makes users question the purpose of using a macro camera.

According to the DCS report, the upcoming Redmi phones will only have dual cameras, excluding depth cameras and macro cameras. This means that the phones will only have the primary wide-angle camera and the ultra-wide-angle camera. The decision to limit Redmi phones to two cameras can be interpreted both positively and negatively. However, if this change leads to a decrease in the prices of phones, it can be considered a completely logical decision.
