As Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports, Apple is preparing to launch the AirPods Pro with a new case that will be equipped with a USB-C connector. Presumably, the innovation will be presented simultaneously with the iPhone 15 series, which will also switch from the Lightning USB-C port.
Gürman says that Apple is testing a new hearing test feature in addition to other AirPods iOS 17 features announced at WWDC. Based on users’ responses, they will be able to detect possible hearing problems.
The company is working on a new hearing test feature that will play different tones and sounds so AirPods can determine how well a person can hear. The idea is to help users detect hearing problems, unlike the Apple Watch EKG app checking for heart problems. Mark Gurman
Gürman said that in the long term, Apple is working to add additional health sensors, such as a body temperature sensor, to the AirPods hardware.
Apple previously announced that later this year AirPods Pro will receive Adaptive Audio, which dynamically switches between transparent and noise canceling modes depending on the ambient sound.
