Xiaomi has recently added the Redmi Note 9 to its EOS (end of support) list. Once a device is on this list, it no longer receives software updates from the company.
But surprisingly, Xiaomi assures its consumers that it will offer a major update for this smartphone. The firm even released a timeframe for when the update could be released.
At the end of June, Xiaomi has officially terminated software support for the Redmi Note 9 and published it on its EOS page. But now, during the week. The company says it will release a major update for the phone in question.
In an email to the consumer, the Xiaomi support team said that the company will provide the MIUI 14 update for the Redmi Note 9. This update will be released in the third or fourth quarter of 2023.
If true, MIUI 14 will be the third major MIUI update for the Redmi Note 9. For those who don’t know, the phone was launched with Android 10 based MIUI 11.
Since it has already received two Android updates, the MIUI 14 update will most likely be based on Android 12 and not Android 13. It would be nice to have the latest version of Android, but for the retail price of the product this is not a problem. It is worth noting that the Redmi Note 9 has been replaced by the Redmi 10X 4G in China. We are not sure if this device will get the same treatment.
