Live images of the highly anticipated Google Pixel 8 Pro have surfaced on Reddit, providing a closer look at the device’s design and revealing some key specs. The images, which are said to be of a prototype taken for testing from Google’s device team, confirm previous leaks and rumors.
A notable change to the Pixel 8 Pro’s design is the absence of the traditional “G” logo seen on previous Pixel phones. Instead, the device has an intriguing patterned design that adds a unique touch.
The leaked image shows the design of the back panel of the phone and shows a combined pill-shaped camera module housing the device’s three cameras. Besides the cameras there is a microphone, an LED flash and an interesting addition – an IR sensor thermometer. This infrared (FIR) thermometer is expected to provide temperature measurement capabilities that may find applications in a variety of scenarios.
The Pixel 8 Pro bootloader screen reveals some interesting details about the device. It mentions the codename “Husky” and a “reloader”. Also, the “Zuma” lettering on the back shows the Tensor G3 chip that will power the Pixel 8 Pro. This special chip developed by Google is expected to increase performance and efficiency.
Additionally, the bootloader screen shows that the device will come with 12GB of Samsung LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of SK Hynix storage. The camera setup of the device is said to include a 50MP primary sensor, 64MP ultra-wide camera and a 5x telephoto lens. The Google Pixel 8 series is expected to launch later this year, possibly in October.
