Samsung Galaxy S22 series users have expressed concerns about the performance of the main rear camera in low light conditions, especially when shooting neon signs or other light sources. In response to these complaints, Samsung acknowledged the problem in March, reassuring users that a software update is on the way to fix the issue. The update, originally scheduled for an April release, has been delayed but is now expected to be included in a future software update.
Software update in progress
Samsung recently confirmed that development of a software fix has been completed and will be made available as part of an upcoming software update. Since the July 2023 security patch has already been released for the Galaxy S22 series, users are expecting the burnt neon signs patch to likely appear in the August 2023 security update.
The announcement was made at the Samsung Korea Community Forum, where a moderator responded to a user’s question about the status of the update. The moderator stated that the patch will be released in the next software update, although a specific date has not yet been set. Samsung has assured users that they will be notified immediately when the software update date is confirmed.
Adding to their concerns about neon signs, users also reported noise in low-light images, especially when shooting the sky. Hopefully a future update will fix this issue as well.
Overall, Samsung is aiming to improve the low-light performance of the Galaxy S22 series cameras with an upcoming software update and provide users with improved image quality and a more satisfying photography experience.
