Onyx International introduced a new reader. And while most ebooks have a purely book-like format that’s great for reading, not carrying in your pocket, the Onyx Boox Palma solves that problem. The dimensions of the reader are 159x80x8.0 mm, which is usual for modern smartphones, the device can fit in a pocket or women’s bag. It has a 6.13 inch E Ink Carta display with a resolution of 824 x 1648 pixels (300 dpi).
The gadget looks like a phone, but it doesn’t have a cellular modem. Only Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 support is provided. Specs also include an octa-core Qualcomm SoC, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of flash storage, a 3,950mAh battery, speakers and Android 11 operating system.
Other features include a rear-facing camera (but no front-facing camera for selfies or video calls), a set of customizable side buttons, and a backlit touchscreen that supports brightness and color temperature adjustments. It has a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
The Onyx Boox Palma Reader is available to pre-order for $250 with shipping scheduled to begin in August 2023. The set includes a protective cover. With the start of open sales, the price will rise to $280.
