British startup Nothing Technology, founded by OnePlus co-founder Karl Pei, introduced its second smartphone. The Nothing Phone (2) model is similar to its predecessor, but has received a number of significant changes and improvements, both externally and internally.

Nothing Phone (2) received a rounded rear glass panel, which makes it more comfortable to use. The Glyph interface has also been updated and now consists of an 11-segment LED strip with 33 lighting zones. It offers new uses for notifications such as volume control and timer indicators. The user can assign the Essential Glyph’s top left message LED to specific applications and the message will stay lit until cleared from the message menu.

The smartphone has a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a frame rate of up to 120 Hz. The space for the front camera (Sony IMX615 32 MP with support for 1080p video recording at 60 fps) is now centrally located.

The rear main camera now has a 50 MP Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS optical image stabilization and updated HDR and Motion Capture modes. The 50 MP ultra-wide camera uses the same Samsung JN1 sensor as its predecessor, but also has advanced HDR capabilities.

The hardware base was SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 instead of the old Snapdragon 778G+ in the previous version. The battery capacity is now 4700 mAh and the charging speed remains unchanged: 33 W in wired mode and 15 W in wireless mode. The smartphone is equipped with Android 13 operating system with Nothing OS 2.0 skin, which adds new widgets, theme colors, folder layouts and covers is loaded.

Nothing Phone (2) is available in white and dark gray color options. The version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal flash memory costs $599 for the US and 679 Euros for Europe. The 12/256GB version will cost $699/€729, while the top-of-the-line 12/512GB model will be $799/849. Pre-orders begin today and the open sale is scheduled for July 17, 2023.
