In a recent update, Microsoft introduced Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25905, available exclusively to members of the Windows Insider program. This build includes the long-awaited support for 3D emojis. The new emoticons are similar to the ones the company released last year for its corporate communications platform, Microsoft Teams. These expressions use gradient colors to give them a three-dimensional aesthetic.
What will the new emoticons be?
Microsoft has announced that the new COLRv1 color font format in Windows 11 enables the display of “richer emojis with a three-dimensional look.” It was emphasized on the company’s blog that these emojis, designed using gradients, are in response to user requests. Microsoft also promised that new 3D emoticons will soon be available in some apps and browsers.

The inclusion of 3D emoticons in Windows 11 aims to increase the expressiveness of messages and provide users with a more immersive visual experience. The extended testing phase in the Windows Insider program will allow Microsoft to gather valuable feedback from users and make necessary improvements before Windows 11 is officially released.
