The long-awaited Vivo X100 series dedicated to photography will launch in November this year. According to rumors, the series will consist of three models: Vivo X100, X100 Pro and X100 Pro+. Among them, the X100 Pro+ is expected to feature a groundbreaking 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, which has attracted a lot of attention. New information about this camera has recently surfaced on Weibo and indicates that it will be a custom made sensor.

Details of Vivo X100 Pro+ 200 MP periscope camera

Reputable whistleblower Digital Chat Station claimed in a recent Weibo post that the 200MP periscope camera in the Vivo X100 Pro+ has been carefully tuned to surpass the optical performance of Sony’s renowned sensors like the IMX890 and IMX866 models. Another source suggested that the camera sensor was tentatively named Samsung HPV as a result of a collaboration between Vivo and Samsung.

Based on the Samsung HP3, this lightweight camera sensor is expected to have a large 1/1.4-inch size and offer its own 3x or 5x optical zoom. Both speakers claim that their advanced AI algorithms will allow users to enjoy an impressive 10x optical magnification.

Reports claim that the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro will be powered by the upcoming Dimensity 9300 chipset, which has yet to be released. Dimensity’s new flagship chip could launch in October or November of this year.

The Vivo X100 Pro+ is expected to feature the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The X90 Pro+ debuted last year alongside the X90 and X90 Pro. However, a recent report claimed that the X100 Pro+ could launch in the first quarter of 2024. Vivo has not launched the X90 Pro+ in markets outside of China. Therefore, it is unclear whether the X100 Pro+ will make a global debut.
