Apple has filed a patent for a foldable iPhone that could be a revolutionary upgrade for future models. The document, filed by the company in November and published in July, is a foldable phone concept that uses thin glass and special components to prevent damage to the screen when bent.

While the patent relates to general-purpose electronic displays, Apple confirms its claim in the foldable smartphone market by explicitly stating that the design can be used in phones.

Keep in mind that if the people of Cupertino bring the project to life, they will eventually join other major manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola, and LG, which are also working on foldable phones.

Currently, none of the companies has brought such a smartphone to the mass market, although some have already presented concepts and prototypes.
