How does HMR work?

The HMR spherical frame has a great feature – it can be slightly deformed during landing, acting as a shock absorber. This unique feature not only protects the electronic components from shocks and vibrations as they pass over bumps, but also increases the safety of the device when working close to people. Additionally, in flight mode, the frame acts as a protective cover for the screws, further increasing the overall safety of the robot.

Designed for autonomous operation, the HMR offers several modes of transportation. First of all, it uses a cost-effective ground motion method. But when it encounters significant obstacles or steep slopes, it effortlessly lifts into the air. It is important to note that the battery consumption increases fivefold when the HMR is in flight mode.

How will HMR be useful?

The creators of the project envision many practical applications for the original development. For example, the HMR can act as a pipe inspection robot that effortlessly traverses vertical sections inaccessible to wheeled vehicles. It can be used in the mining industry to inspect mines by easily navigating the treacherous underground environment. In addition, HMR could be useful for the military sector, as few such robots can offer a variety of imaging options for target acquisition.

A crowdfunding campaign was launched to put this extraordinary car into production. This campaign aims to support people who recognize the potential of HMR and want to contribute to its realization. With the promising opportunities it opens in a variety of industries, HMR has the potential to fundamentally change the way we approach ground and air operations.
