An overlooked design
As always, we start with the aesthetic part. Vivo V29 5G one fairly thin and relatively light device, only 7.46 mm thick and 186 grams in weight. It’s a huge camera module with a pretty striking back, available in Peak Blue or Noble Black (also known as blue and black), and rounded edges to improve grip.
It’s not a solid color, but as Vivo explains”3D magnetic particlesThe company claims it’s a “true industry first,” and explains that this technology is based on “15 million micron 3D magnetic particles that create a variety of different graded and bright tones of light and shadow.” that means when we have the phone.
If we rotate it, we see one. 6.78 inch curved AMOLED display with “1.5K” resolution, according to Live. We’re really talking about 2,800 pixels high and 1,260 pixels wide, which means 452 pixels per inch. It doesn’t look bad on paper. It has a 120 Hz refresh rate, is compatible with HDR10, and hides the front camera in a hole centered on the vertical axis of the terminal.
Aura Light: back light ring
If we open the hood, this is a Vivo V29 5G Snapdragon 778GIt’s a mid-range processor that we’ve seen in a handful of devices. It is a platform that offers good performance, as confirmed by the Honor 70, The Nothing Phone (1) or POCO X5 Pro 5G, among others. There is no news in this section.
This processor comes with 8GB RAM, expandable to 16GB via virtual RAM and 256GB storage, this is the only configuration available. All this is brought to life by a 4,600mAh battery with 80W fast charging and Android 13 running under the Vivo Funtouch 13 layer.
And so we come to the camera. Vivo is wasting mega pixels on its new smartphone. 50 megapixel main sensor with OIS (optical stabilization), eight-megapixel wide-angle and two-megapixel monochrome. Beyond the numbers, the most interesting thing is, Aura Lighta light ring with a diameter of 15.6 millimeters.
Clearly focused on night photography, the purpose of this light is to provide more uniform illumination in low light situations. According to Vivo, it has an emission area “nine times larger than a standard flash” and should a priori be used more when shooting portraits. At night, yes, but also during the day, it uses this Aura Light as a fill light.
