For clarity, we note that the A (A17 Bionic, A18 Bionic, A19 Bionic) and M (M3, M4, M5) series are different processors. The first is used in the company’s smartphones, and the second is used in Mac computers and laptops. There are different configurations of M chips: basic, Pro, Max and Ultra, its launch has been slightly extended over time. Despite this, they appear almost simultaneously within the same generation, so they are often equated with each other by mentioning one, but referring to the entire line of a particular year. According to the launch schedule, the Apple A19 Bionic and M5 will be released in 2025, two years from now.

Evidence that Apple is working on next-generation chipsets comes in the form of processor IDs. Published images show that the A19 Bionic and M5 are already working.

Here’s what you can learn from the image posted on X:

• We know from previous generations that A14 Bionic carries the identity 0x8101, A15 Bionic – 0x8110, A16 Bionic – 0x8120. This means that the A17 Bionic should be defined as 0x8130, the A18 Bionic as 0x8140 and the A19 Bionic as 0x8150.
• Same story as the M series. M1 is 0x8103 (variants: M1 Pro – 0x6000, M1 Max – 0x6001, M1 Ultra – 0x6002), M2 is 0x8112 (variants: M2 Pro – 0x6020, M2 Max – 0x6021, M2 Ultra – 0x6022). By this logic, 0x8122 is an M3 chip, 0x8132 is an M4, and 0x8142 is an M5 with all variations starting at 0x60**.

Of course, all these future chips are still far from mass production. Even next year’s chip will likely have a few final changes. Currently, the company is focused on the 2023 generation, which we will see in September with the new iPhones. It will be produced with 3 nanometer technology. It is unknown if the company will switch to 2 nanometers next year, but it should definitely do so in the M5 and A19 Bionic.
