Despite LG’s official withdrawal from the smartphone business last year, the company is actively developing new displays. This year, at Display Week, LG announced that a research and development team has successfully created a sophisticated OLED device that can unfold and fold 360 degrees.
LG Display showcased a stylish 8.03-inch touch OLED display. The uniqueness of this screen is that the panel can be folded in or out. It can be left at any angle from 0 to 360 degrees.
In terms of durability, it is stated that LG uses UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) technology for complex OLED and the outer screen is covered with a material that protects it from fingerprints.
LG also claims that the 360 Foldable OLED display is designed for 200,000 twists in normal use. Its resolution is 2480 × 2200 pixels, its density is 413 pixels per inch. The display covers 109.9% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The brightness is 430 cd/m2 in typical situations and can go up to 600 cd/m2 in difficult situations.
The company also showed off a neat 17-inch OLED panel that folds up to 180 degrees and resembles a keyboard-less laptop. Source
