Nothing (1) won’t start receiving Nothing OS 2 update

It’s been over a month since Nothing Phone 2 with the release of Nothing OS 2 with exciting hardware and software updates. After last week’s approval, the Nothing OS 2 update for Nothing Phone (1) has begun to populate. The new OS update brings some pre-installed lock screen and home screen widgets and a few other toggle features as seen on this year’s flagship.

Nothing’s CEO took to X.com (formerly Twitter) to announce the release of the Nothing OS 2.0 update on last year’s Nothing Phone 1. There are many changes that are part of the latest update. The update includes major changes as well as some improvements that will improve the phone experience. Below is the official changelog:

No OS 2.0 features

Phone (1), now it’s your turn. We’re excited to introduce Nothing OS 2.0, packed with exciting features, advanced customizations and enhanced features. This changelog contains only the basics, but there are many areas where we have improved the Phone (1) software. Big thanks to the whole team of mobile developers and testers who worked hard to build Nothing OS 2.0 (1) for the phone.

Home screen settings

  • Nova A visual identity that clearly feels nothing.
  • Updated launcher grid layout with support for hiding icon labels.
  • More options for custom folders; Expand the folder and try different folder layouts and covers.

no widgets

  • Updated the design of the following widgets: Clock, Weather, Quick View. A new Quick Settings widget is also available, giving you even faster access to settings.
  • Widgets are now also available on the lock screen and AOD.

Glyphs 2.0 interface

  • Essential Notifications – Let your most important apps and contacts leave a permanent glyph so you know at a glance if there are important notifications you missed.
  • Glyph Torch – Press and hold the Torch Quick Settings tile to light up the entire glyph interface.

New app features

  • Introduced cloning, which allows you to manage multiple accounts in apps without having to log out.
  • Meet App Locker – Protect your apps by asking you to unlock them again when you try to open them.

Other improvements

  • updated logic auto brightness
  • Lots (and I mean lots of) improvements (1) to optimize your phone experience.

The update is currently available and weighs 0.97GB. Interested users can check for updates by going to: device settings > About menu > Check for updates. Each block can last from a few days to a few weeks as the update is done incrementally.
