Xiaomi has included four popular smartphones from the Redmi and Poco brands in its End of Support (EoS) list. According to XiaomiUI, these devices will no longer receive any software updates.
Smartphones included in the EoS list include affordable budget models such as Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9C NFC, Poco M2 Pro, as well as the flagship Redmi K30 Ultra. They will no longer receive security patches as well as updates to the Android OS and MIUI shell.
The termination of software support by the manufacturer means possible threats to user security and the security of user data. Unsupported devices will not receive patches for vulnerabilities that attackers could theoretically exploit.
Owners of older smartphones are advised to switch to more modern devices or consider using proven proprietary software with up-to-date security patches from enthusiasts.
