The Huawei Mate 60 Pro was quietly launched in China yesterday, followed by the vanilla Huawei Mate 60 today. In fact, the company’s latest flagship smartphone is already on sale in its home country. This is an interesting device as it works on the new Kirin chip. It is also the first consumer smartphone to support satellite searches.

Unfortunately, we have some bad news for longtime Huawei fans outside of mainland China. Huawei confirmed yesterday that it does not plan to launch the Huawei Mate 60 Pro to global markets. Although the company has not yet made any statements about the vanilla model, it may suffer the same fate.

Despite the lack of GMS (Google Mobile Services) and 5G, Huawei has launched its previous Mate phones in a few select global markets. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the latest models.

The reason these phones are not available in regions outside of mainland China may be the chip inside. They include the new Kirin 9000 SoC. Unfortunately, we do not have detailed information about it, except that it supports 5G connection. The new Kirin chip provides 5G connectivity on Huawei smartphones years later. It is known that Huawei is prohibited from using 5G technology with the participation of the USA. However, it is said that this new mobile platform of Kirin will be completely domestic.
