We already know that Apple is trying to develop its own 5G modem for its products. Now, a new report from leading analysts points out that this particular network modem could appear on the iPhone in 2025.

Apple’s 5G modem may appear in iPhone SE 4

The news comes from renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who believes the Cupertino-based giant wants to reduce its reliance on other modem companies. For those who don’t know, the iPhone maker bought Intel’s modem module in 2019 and now relies on Qualcomm for 5G modems. However, according to analysts, Apple is approaching the launch of its own modems.

Kuo said the company plans to switch to its own modems by 2025. Currently, iPhone 14 series is equipped with Qualcomm X65 modem to connect 5G on iPhone. New proprietary 5G modems will feature in iPhones and other cellular-enabled devices. Ming-Chi Kuo previously claimed that the 4th generation iPhone SE will be the first iPhone to feature this 5G modem.

However, due to supply chain issues, the company ran into problems with mass production of the 5G modem. Now it seems that the launch of Apple’s 5G network technology could be delayed until 2025. In recent years Apple has tried to be more independent, and this is reflected in the M-series processors for PCs.
