The company’s next big moves, including a move to USB-C for accessories, are expected to be announced at Apple’s “Wonderlust” event this Tuesday. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared this and other interesting information on the latest MacRumors Show podcast. Over the years, Apple has released a variety of accessories with different types of charging ports.
Remember the bulky 30 pin charger? Gurman says the era of inconsistency will soon end. Apple plans to make a seamless transition to USB-C, similar to the move to the Lightning port in 2012. This could mean everything from AirPods to MagSafe battery packs will get a USB-C upgrade.
Talking about MagSafe, Gurman mentioned that a new version of MagSafe Duo with USB-C support is on the way. Is the real puzzle here? The foldable MagSafe battery allows you to charge multiple devices simultaneously. Imagine a bunch of batteries, each powering an iPhone; Talk about comfort!
While everyone is excited about the accessories, let’s not forget the series iPhone 15. Gurman hints that the Pro models will have a lighter and stronger titanium structure. They also promise to reduce the bezel by 33% and extend battery life by 10%. These updates come thanks to a new technique known as low-pressure injection molding (LIPO) and the improved 3nm A17 Bionic chipset.
But all that glitters isn’t gold; Gurman warns that this lighter titanium is more prone to dents. However, for those who are tired of wiping fingerprints off their phones, the titanium surface may be a welcome change.
