Over the past few months, we’ve heard numerous claims with seemingly contradictory information regarding the memory and RAM of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro.
MacRumors Now Apple has confirmed that it is testing the following memory configurations for the “iPhone 15 Pro” and “iPhone 15 Pro” Max:
Apple uses NAND from several different vendors for its storage options:
- SK Hynix
- Western Digital
- Kioxia
- SAMSUNG
While the rumor of a 2TB storage configuration was started by Naver user Yeux1122, MacRumors saw no evidence that it was being evaluated. A Weibo leak also suggested that the “iPhone 15 Pro” will initially have 256GB of storage, but this also seems false. According to our findings, memory options will match the memory levels of the iPhone 14 Pro.
As for RAM; MacRumors He learned that Apple plans to use LPDDR5 DRAM for the “iPhone 15 Pro”, the same type of RAM as in last year’s flagship devices. Two RAM configurations, 6 GB and 8 GB, were tested with RAM provided by the following companies:
It is currently unclear which of these two RAM configurations Apple chose for eventual mass production. One possible explanation is that the amount of RAM will vary depending on the phone’s storage capacity, and models with more storage will get 8GB of RAM instead of 6GB. According to a recent report from TrendForce, Apple will offer 8GB in the “iPhone 15 Pro”, so the 6GB configuration may be scrapped.
The ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ will use an updated system on the A17 processor, created according to TSMC’s new 3 nm technological process, as well as RAM. The A17 is expected to have an additional GPU core that will provide better graphics performance. Additionally, the performance cores will have an increased clock frequency of up to 3.70 GHz compared to 3.46 GHz on the A16.
Other improvements expected for the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ include an all-new titanium frame, USB-C, and a periscopic zoom lens on the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max.
