iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus were introduced with important updates and changes

Apple held its annual Wonderlust fall event today. As always, the Cupertino-based technology giant introduced the new generation iPhones, Watch Series and more. The latest flagship iPhone 15 models feature significant upgrades over previous models, especially since the iPhone 11 was released in 2019. This time, Apple has also differentiated the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus from the Pro and Pro Max variants. Unlike the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, which are the same as their predecessors, the new non-pro iPhone 15 has new features and specifications. Read on to learn more.

Features of iPhone 15, 15 Plus

The only difference between the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is the screen and battery. Both retain the same square form factor with the same button layouts seen on previous iPhones. However, the square camera module is now raised slightly above the rear panel.

Unlike the previous generation iPhone, the latest non-pro iPhone 15 has a frosted glass back panel, which is limited to Pro models. On the front, the phones are equipped with Dynamic Island technology, which was introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro versions last year. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Retina XDR OLED displays, respectively, with a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.

In terms of optics, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are equipped with updated primary cameras. It has a 48MP Sony sensor (compared to 12MP on the iPhone 14) paired with a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The smartphones have a 12 megapixel selfie camera on the front. The latest offerings also include a number of new camera features. Users will not need to switch to portrait mode as machine learning will automatically add depth when an object is detected.

Under the hood of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is Apple’s A16 Bionic processor, which powered last year’s Pro models. Since the iPhone 14 duo is powered by the same processor as the iPhone 13, this is a welcome upgrade in terms of performance. The latest offerings pack 6GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are powered by batteries with a capacity of 3877 mAh and 4912 mAh, respectively.

In terms of software, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus come with iOS 17 out of the box. There is a USB-C port, replacing the old Lightning port. The latter duo is also equipped with a second-generation Ultrawide-band chip that enhances Find My’s capabilities. The satellite emergency call feature also has a roadside assistance feature.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are offered in pink, green, white, black, yellow and blue color options. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus start at the same price as their predecessors ($799 and $899, respectively).
