Rumors that Huawei smartphones could support 5G with a third-party accessory – case confirmed. Today the device was officially presented.

It will be remembered that US sanctions effectively removed Huawei from the RF filters needed to sell 5G, and prohibited other companies from selling Huawei single-chip systems with 5G support. The case, which connects to the smartphone via USB-C, allows you to bypass all these obstacles.

It cannot be said that this solution does not look elegant: on the contrary, the case is slightly different from other similar products. Its thickness is 3.2 mm, weight – about 52 g. Inside there is a dual-core processor with a frequency of 1.35 GHz and eSIM.

It is stated that after connecting the case to the smartphone, you need to specify the main SIM and activate the eSIM, after using the main SIM card, the 5G network supporting the following ranges will be available:

• SA: N1, N3, N41, N77/78, N79, N28;
• NSA: B3 + N41, B3 + N78, B3 + N79;
• B1 + N78, B39 + N41, B41 + N79;
• B39 + N79, B5 + N78, B8 + N78.

The case was developed by Soyealink Digital Source Technology. It will go on sale in China in early June. The device has so far only been available for $120 for the Huawei P50 Pro. Later, all 4G versions of the Mate 40 and nova 9 smartphones will appear, as well as options for the promising Mate 50 and nova 10.
