Last year, Apple announced a subtle but significant change to the structure of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus; Both phones have a removable glass back, making repairs easier and cheaper. This year, Apple followed suit with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which feature removable glass.
iPhone 15 Pro back glass repair
iPhone 15 Pro is built with a new titanium structure that’s stronger but lighter than stainless steel. During the introduction of the new iPhones, Apple noted that repair of the iPhone 15 Pro has become easier thanks to its “new internal housing architecture” that allows “easy replacement” of the rear glass.
And fortunately for customers, this change is also reflected in official repair prices. Apple confirmed on its support site that replacing the iPhone 15 Pro’s back glass will cost less than the same repair on previous iPhone Pro models.
Damaged back glass repair for iPhone 15 Pro costs $169. The cost of repair for the 15 Pro Max is $199. Since all iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 15 and 15 Plus models have removable glass, the same prices apply for rear glass replacement. Repair prices for other iPhones are much higher, as you can see below:
- iPhone 14 back glass: $169
- Back glass of iPhone 14 Plus: $199
- Back glass of iPhone 14 Pro: $ 499
- Back glass of iPhone 14 Pro Max: $ 549
- iPhone 15 back glass: $169
- iPhone 15 Plus back glass: $199
- iPhone 15 Pro back glass: $169
- Back glass of iPhone 15 Pro Max: $ 199
Of course, those who purchase an AppleCare+ plan for their iPhone will only pay $29 to replace the back glass if necessary.
Apple recently decided to support California’s right-to-repair law, which would ensure that manufacturers provide the parts and tools that customers and third-party repair providers need to repair products. Making devices more repairable is certainly a big step forward.
Apple Watch battery replacement is now more expensive
On the other hand, Apple Watch repairs have become more expensive. Following the announcement of Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, the company increased battery replacement prices for its smartwatches. A new Apple Watch battery used to be $79, now it’s $99.
