Apple has finally released iOS 17, which brings many improvements and new features to the iPhone operating system. It comes with new customization options for the lock screen, improved iMessage and FaceTime, new Health features and standby mode. However, some iPhone models are not compatible with the update. Read on as we find out if you can install the update.
There are four areas of the update: communication, sharing, smart login and new experiences. It is worth noting that some features, such as the Journal app, are not available in the first version of iOS 17. According to Apple, these features will arrive later this year.
“With iOS 17, we made iPhone more personal and intuitive by thinking deeply about the features we rely on every day,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering. “Phone, FaceTime and Messages are at the core of how we communicate, and this release is full of updates we think our users will love. We’ve also reimagined AirDrop with new ways to share data; “autocorrect is even better, and we’re introducing brand new features including history, standby, and more.”
Unfortunately, iOS 17 requires the A12 Bionic chip or newer. This means the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will not receive the update.
Here is the list of all iPhone models compatible with iOS 17:
