According to the information published on X (formerly Twitter), iPhone 15 users will be able to check the number of charge cycles of their batteries for the first time. Previous methods for checking iPhone battery cycle counts were informal and complicated, such as copying and pasting analytics into Notes and searching for “last_value_CycleCount.”
According to the screenshot shared by @Tech_Reve, battery information on iPhone 15 models can be seen by going to Settings, General and About. A new “Battery” section has appeared at the bottom of the page. In addition to the number of battery cycles, the date of manufacture and date of first use are also indicated here.

While battery health has been visible in the form of “Maximum Capacity” on the iPhone for several years, the ability to see a certain number of cycles is a valuable additional indicator of battery health. One charge cycle is recorded each time you discharge the battery to its full capacity. Battery life information is easily obtained by going to System Information on the MacBook. From Apple’s battery information web page:
Apple’s lithium-ion batteries operate in charging cycles. You complete a charging cycle when you use (discharge) an amount equal to 100% of your battery’s capacity, but not necessarily the entire amount in a single charge. For example, you can use 75% of the battery capacity one day and then fully charge it overnight. If you use 25% the next day, you will discharge to 100% and there will be a charging cycle of two days. The cycle may take several days to complete. The capacity of any battery decreases after a certain charging time. In lithium-ion batteries, capacity decreases slightly with each full charge cycle.
Yesterday it was revealed that all iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models have a new battery health setting that prevents the devices from charging above 80% at any time while they’re on. Apple says all iPhone 15 models have the same battery life as their predecessor, the iPhone 14. The devices are launching this Friday.
