Luxury smartphone maker Vertu recently introduced METAVERTU 2 at the Token2049 Singapore event. Like the first generation METAVERTU, the new smartphone is designed for blockchain and Web3 enthusiasts with its decentralized operating system (DOS) and advanced security features.

VERTU METAVERTU 2 review

METAVERTU 2 has a number of new security features compared to the previous model. One feature I’m particularly interested in is the “unbreakable” Secure Element (SE) chip. This chip generates bank-grade encryption for signing, decryption, hardware random number generation, and zero-knowledge (ZK) proof capabilities.

This means users can be sure that their personal keys and other sensitive data are always safe, even if their phone is lost or stolen.

Another important security feature of METAVERTU 2 is its separate Decentralized Operating System (DOS). This operating system is isolated from the Android operating system; This means that Web3 applications are protected from all vulnerabilities that may be present in the Android operating system.

In addition to its security features, METAVERTU 2 offers a number of other features that make it an excellent choice for Web3 users. These include a built-in MPC wallet that saves users from having to remember mnemonic phrases, and a dApp store where users can download and install the latest Web3 applications.

There is also a new identification system called I-DID. Essentially, it ties a user’s mobile IMEI number to Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), eliminating the need for repeated registration when accessing Web3 dApps.

Vertu has also tried to make the smartphone user-friendly for developers. It supports programming over open protocols and provides access to APIs for various Layer 1 (L1) and Layer 2 (L2) protocols.

Developers can also use the I-DID protocol to increase security and combat attacks such as Sybil Attacks. Additionally, developers can publish their dApps on the dApp Store to attract users.

Apart from this, Vertu has not yet announced the hardware features of METAVERTU 2. Or he didn’t share the actual images of the smartphone. However, its release is planned for October 2023. Users can pre-order METAVERTU 2 now and get a chance to win a Bitcoin Blind Box. No deposit is required for reservations.
