Earlier today, Huawei launched its new ultra-premium brand called Ultimate Design. And now the brand has introduced the first smartphone in this new series, which it calls Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design. See details about the new smartphone below.
In terms of design, the Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design takes inspiration from last year’s Mate 50 RS Porsche Design. It has the same aggressive yet elegant aesthetic with the octagonal camera module in the middle of the tip. The body of the smartphone is made of ceramics and the frame is made of aluminum. Available in two color options: red and black.
The front of the device features a 6.82-inch flat LTPO OLED display with three holes at the top center for the front camera setup. The screen has a resolution of 2720×1260 pixels and offers an adaptive refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. It also has a touch sampling rate of 300Hz along with built-in high-frequency PWM dimming at 1440Hz. The screen is capable of producing 1.07 billion saturated colors as it covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
The Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design camera is similar to the Mate 60 Pro+. It has three high-performance lenses on the back, including a 48-megapixel main camera with adjustable aperture from F1.4 to F4.0. The main sensor has optical image stabilization (OIS) for steady shots. It includes a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera with F2.2 aperture. There is also a 48-megapixel ultra-macro telephoto camera with F3.0 aperture, also with OIS and the added convenience of autofocus. It offers 3.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom.
The front camera consists of a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with F2.4 aperture and a 3D depth camera for advanced facial recognition features. The camera system enables up to 4K (3840 x 2160) video recording for both the rear and front cameras, using AIS anti-shake technology to ensure video stability.
The camera system is also packed with features like Intelligent Variable Aperture, 10-stop physical aperture, Super Night Scene Mode, Super Macro and Macro options, live HDR video, and simultaneous macro and telephoto shooting. The camera is also great for slow motion, slo-mo, panoramic shots and more. The front camera has Video HDR Live mode, smart wide-angle switching, night scene capture, portrait mode and a host of creative filters.
Under the hood, this smartphone runs on its own Kirin 9000s chipset along with Hongmeng OS 4.0 operating system that provides a smooth user experience. It has 16GB of RAM, which means you won’t have to close recent apps as often. Storage options include a generous 512GB or 1TB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via NM memory card.
This flagship device packs a powerful 5,000mAh battery along with up to 88W fast charging, 50W fast wireless charging, and 20W reversible wireless charging. The device is equipped with a full suite of sensors including 3D facial recognition, in-display fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, compass, NFC, and more. The phone supports Tiantong satellite calls and Beidou satellite messages.
Other connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 (high-definition audio codecs SBC, AAC, LDAC and L2HC are supported), GPS, AGPS/GLONASS/Beidou/GALILEO/QZSS/NavIC.
The phone has two storage models with different prices. The price of 16 GB and 512 GB configuration is 11,999 RMB (1,641 USD), while the 16 GB + 1 TB configuration is 12,999 RMB (1,778 USD). The phone is currently available for pre-order and will go on sale on September 28.
