Last week, Redmi launched the Redmi Note 13 series in China. The model range includes three models: standard and two professional. These new phones come with significant upgrades. Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus in particular sets the bar very high for the Redmi Note series

The most premium model offers many flagship-level features. This isn’t what the series was going for before. The Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is a more affordable premium smartphone despite its mid-range price tag (~$275).

one. Simple but attractive design

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus has a curved screen on the front and a curved panel on the back. Depending on the color you choose, the back panel can be made of glass or vegan leather. Glass options are offered in stylish black and white colors. The vegan leather version has a four-tone finish.

All three rear cameras are located inside separate islands. The horizontal LED flashlight and the Redmi branding underneath are located to the right of the cameras. These three elements are separated by lines. Xiaomi uses similar lines to separate the cameras in the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 12 series. Additionally, the front of the device is equipped with a curved screen. This screen has a central hole and minimal bezels around it.

On the right side there are power and volume buttons. The USB Type-C port and SIM card slot are located at the bottom. There’s no headphone jack (a first on a Redmi Note device), but there is an IR amplifier on top.

2. Impressive display

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is the first phone of the Redmi Note series with a curved screen. The C7 has a 6.67-inch OLED panel with luminescent material. The 12-bit display offers 1.5K (2712×1220 pixels) resolution, which is a first in Redmi Note series phones. The display has a resolution of 446 pixels per inch, a 120 Hz refresh rate, a 2160 Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate, and even 1920 Hz PWM dimming to protect the eyes.

The display can reproduce more than 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. It can play HDR10+ and Dolby Vision content. Typical and peak brightness levels are rated at 1200 and 1800 nits respectively. Finally, there is even a fingerprint sensor under the screen; This is again a first for a Redmi Note device. This sensor can even be used to measure heart rate.

3. Various premium features

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is the first Redmi Note with an IP68 rating. Thus, the product is dust and water resistant. Theoretically, it can survive under 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes. It also showcases a customized version of the 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 camera sensor. This 1/1.4-inch sensor supports OIS and works with an ALD lens with anti-glare coating.

Finally, the phone supports USB PD 3.0 and 2.0 in addition to Xiaomi’s own 120W charging standard. It even comes with a GaN charger along with a two-way USB Type-C cable.
