According to the available information, the phone now comes with different software than the software it was released with. Smartphones under the brand Nokia’s They download almost stock Android software from HMD Global worldwide except China. Because Google is banned in this country and therefore the software on phones has developed differently compared to other markets.
For those who don’t know, Nokia smartphones in China have customized user interface elements and personalized services. They differ from software found elsewhere on the same phones. As reported @Hikari_Calyx On X (formerly Twitter), new devices Nokia C31 now ships with Freeme OS in China. This software was developed by Shanghai Zhuoyi Technology Co., Ltd, also known as Droi.
Feeme OS is a heavy skin for Android, just like popular Chinese skins like MIUI. It is nothing like standard Android, which is one of the strengths of Nokia phones. Nokia C31 It is entitled to receive quarterly security updates for 2 years. However, the October 2022 security patch was stuck on Freeme devices.
It looks like this particular version of the device may not receive any system updates. It will stay on Android 12 forever as HMD Global hasn’t promised an Android update for the phone. Nokia C31 It is powered by the entry-level Unisoc SC9863A1 chip and retails for ¥799 (~$110) in China.
