The design of the updated PS5 has remained largely unchanged, but the side panels are now divided into two parts, the upper part being glossy and the lower part matte. This gives the console a fresh and modern look. In general this is the same console, but packaged in a smaller box and 1 terabyte SSD.

The company calls the console the “new PS5” and says: prices will remain the same.

One of the most notable features is the plugin. removable Ultra HD Blu-ray drive For PS5 Digital Edition model. Priced at $79.99 or €119.99, this disc drive will allow Digital Edition users to install and play games from physical discs, making the use of the new model more flexible.

The new version of PS5 will go on sale in the USA in November this year. It will be distributed worldwide in the coming months. Once stock of the current PS5 versions runs out, the new PS5 will be the only model available.

Recommended retail prices for the new PS5 will be as follows:

• PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray drive – $499.99.
• PS5 Digital Edition – $449.99.

The delivery set of the new PS5 will include a stand for placing the console in a horizontal position. A new vertical stand compatible with all PS5 models will also be sold separately for $29.99 or €29.99.

In early 2024, other colors of the case will be available, including matte black as well as colors from the Deep Earth collection such as volcanic red, cobalt blue and silver. Prices start from 54.99 USD and 54.99 EUR. Other colors will be released in the future.
