Honor, once a sub-brand of Huawei, has stepped into the fully foldable world. So far this year we’ve seen the emergence of several handsets in this category, including the Magic V2 and Magic V Purse, but the Asian firm was preparing a surprise: the new Magic Vs2.

We are faced with a device that will replace the Magic Vs, which has been available in Spain for about eight months, but does so with a rather limited offer. So we are not faced with a radical update, but some things have changed between generations.

A comprehensive update, but an update nonetheless

At the design level, the new Magic Vs2 faithfully preserves the essence of Magic Vs. However, the manufacturer magnesium alloy frame to reduce the weight of the device. We went from 265 grams in the previous generation to 229 grams in this generation (it’s also lighter than the Magic V2).

As for the display panel, we continue with the 6.49-inch OLED external display (2344×2156 pixels) and the 7.92-inch internal display (2376×1060 pixels), both with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Coming to the heart of the device, we also see the continuity of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with Adreno 730 GPU. There are a few changes here.

There is no news about battery capacity either. It is 5,000 mAh Promises to last “all day”. At this point, we see 66W fast charging capacity with the charger included in the box. If we talk about connectivity, we have 5G networks (dual nanoSIM), Wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC compatibility.

Below are some changes. In some markets there was an 8 GB RAM version of the previous generation. This is now a thing of the past and at least in China the device comes in combinations of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage and 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

If you are a user who likes to take photos, this information may interest you. Magic Vs2 comes with a camera 50 MP wide angle (f/1.9), 20 MP telephoto lens (f/2.4, OIS) and 12 MP ultra wide-angle lens (f/2.2). They are all now in one module that shares the terminal’s skin color.

Regarding the operating system, this is still MagicOS, but in version 7.2. This recommendation, based on Android 13, is supported by the manufacturer’s applications that offer handwriting in different scenarios, split-screen multitasking, smart folders, app recommendations based on usage habits and more.

Price and availability of the new Honor Magic VS2

New Honor Magic VS2 announced in China and for now only available in that country (We will update this article if the device reaches the Spanish market). Prices are as follows:

• Honor Magic VS2 12 + 256: 6,999 yuan (about 909 euros at the exchange rate)
• Honor Magic VS2 16 + 512: 8,999 yuan (about 1,170 euros at the exchange rate)
