Figure’s approach to humanoid robot development is based on pragmatism. Their aim is not to create robots that can perform exaggerated movements such as running, jumping or somersaulting; to develop models that stand out with precision, navigation and a wide range of practical tasks commonly encountered at home.
The recently unveiled Figure 01 prototype demonstrated dynamic bipedal walking in a short video presentation.

Two important points are emphasized in the video.
First, the robot is not connected, indicating wireless operation.
Second, it works without the need for a backup engineer to be immediately available to respond in emergencies.
Dynamic gait includes moments during the gait cycle when a fall is inevitable if forward movement is not maintained. This complex walking pattern closely resembles human movement, unlike traditional robot walks that maintain a fixed center of gravity.
The robot’s hands are equipped with silicone fingers, and Figure 01 is already able to move objects with one or both hands. During testing, the robot expertly rearranged boxes, baskets and other common items found in warehouses and production. Android also has the ability to move packages and bags.

The company plans to offer a dedicated app interface to interact with Figure 01 and provide instructions. Developers are also looking at the potential of voice communication, hinting at the possibility that Android could talk in the future.
Currently in the company’s workshop, Figure is in various stages of development five robots. These robots range from basic bodies to fully assembled models with walking abilities.
