A Digital Chat Station insider shared an interesting detail about the upcoming Xiaomi flagship. According to him, the “big cup in Snapdragon 8 Gen 3” (“big cups” are the flagships of Xiaomi and Redmi – the company introduced such a designation) will not receive support for satellite communications. The tipster says that the company has given up on this feature, but the reasons for the decision are unknown.
This situation may affect the popularity of Xiaomi 14 Pro in the domestic market. The satellite communication support and the ability to make calls are highly appreciated by Huawei Meta 60 users in China and this is one of the reasons for the high demand for the smartphone. Previous Huawei flagships also supported satellite communications but had limitations.
According to rumors, satellite communication will be implemented in Nova 12 series smartphones, while Apple smartphones have support for communication via satellite. However, it is still unclear whether it will be in the Galaxy S24 series: There is conflicting data on this issue.
As a reminder, the premiere of Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro is expected to be held next week. The smartphones will be the manufacturer’s first models to run the latest HyperOS operating system.
