Yesterday Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 14 series in China. These devices have various updates. One of these is long-term software support. Like the recently launched Xiaomi 13T series, these phones will also receive 4th generation Android and 5 years of security updates.
Unfortunately, the new software policy does not apply to older phones. Thus, Xiaomi stopped supporting the Mi 10T and Poco X3 series.
Xiaomi has a dedicated page for EOL (End of Life) devices on its website. According to Kacper Skrzypek, the company added the following devices to the list, signaling the end of software support for these devices.
- Mi 10T
- Mi 10T Pro
- Poco X3
The above three smartphones were launched in the second half of 2020. Therefore, according to the company’s previous policy, software support is terminated after 3 years.
They were launched with MIUI 12 based on Android 10. Now they are installing MIUI 14 based on Android 12. So, they have received two Android and MIUI updates in the last three years.
We can excuse the Poco X3 because it is a budget model from the company. However, Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro are affordable flagships powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. This duo can last for years without losing much performance.
In any case, it is worth noting that Xiaomi has extended software support to 4 years for certain devices released in 2021, and to 5 years for some phones from 2023. However, the updated policy mostly applies only to flagships, unlike Samsung, which provides the same support for its mid-range and budget smartphones.
